It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah that Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) died at the place called al-Hubshi, at a distance of one barid (about 12 miles) from Makkah. Then when Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) performed Hajj, she came to his grave, wept much and (in a tone full of longing) recited these verses: "For a long time we were companions like the two boon companions of Jadhimah, of whom it was said that they would never be parted. Then when we were parted, (after the shock of this death) I felt as though Malik (my brother) and I, despite our long companionship, had never spent even a single night together." Then she returned to Makkah and said: "By Allah! Had I been present at the time of your death, I would have buried you right where your soul departed."

Important point: Manuscripts (Z) and (B) have "raddathu", which is an error; the correct word is "raddat", meaning "she returned".
