(1). Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman narrates from his brother that he said: Your father, Abd al-Rahman bin Uthman, was martyred alongside Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) (in the battle against the Umayyads). Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave the order, and he was buried right in the Mosque of the Ka'bah (the Sacred Mosque of Makkah). Then he had horses run over his grave at night so that its trace would be erased (and the enemy could not desecrate his body).

Grading: Its chain is hasan because of Nu'aym bin Hammad and Muhammad bin Talhah al-Taymi (Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman bin Talhah). Reference / Source: Ibn 'Asakir recorded it in "Tarikh Dimashq" (35/ 100) by way of Yahya bin 'Uthman bin Salih al-Sahmi, from Nu'aym bin Hammad, with it. But he said in it: "Then he drove the horses over his grave so that no trace of it would be seen." Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari recorded in his "al-Tarikh al-Awsat" (2/ 864) from Ibrahim bin al-Mundhir, from Muhammad bin Talhah, from 'Uthman bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Uthman, who said: "My father was killed with 'Abdullah bin al-Zubayr and was buried at al-Hazwarah." In it 'Uthman did not mention that it was his brother who told him that! Note / Clarification: "al-Hazwarah": a raised place facing the Mas'a (the running place) on the east side. See 'Atiq al-Biladi's "al-Ma'alim al-Jughrafiyyah" (p. 98).
