Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5930

(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد رجاله لا بأس بهم، وفي عطف سفيان الثوري على ابن جُريج - وهو عبد الملك بن عبد العزيز المكي - في هذا الإسناد وهمٌ، لأنه يُوهم أنَّ روايته موصولة كرواية ابن جريج الموصولة، مع أنَّ الثابت عن سفيان الثوري الإرسال كما سبق، والوهم هنا إما أن يكون من أبي حُمَة - وهو محمد بن يوسف الزَّبيدي - فقد قال ابن حبان في "الثقات" 9/ 104: ربما أخطأ وأغرب، أو من شيخه أبي قرّة - واسمه موسى بن طارق الزَّبيدي - فهو يُغرب، كما قال ابن حبّان أيضًا في "الثقات" 9/ 159، وربما كان من الحسن بن علي بن زياد - وهو السُّرِّي الرازي - فلم يؤثر فيه جرحٌ أو تعديلٌ، مع أنه روى عنه جمع من الثقات الحُفاظ.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and the narrators of this chain are acceptable (la ba'sa bihim).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Joining Sufyan al-Thawri to Ibn Jurayj (Abd al-Malik bin Abd al-Aziz al-Makki) in this chain is an error (wahm), because it gives the impression that his narration is connected (mawsul) like Ibn Jurayj's connected narration, whereas what is established from Sufyan al-Thawri is the mursal form, as has passed. The error here is either from Abu Humah (Muhammad bin Yusuf al-Zabidi), of whom Ibn Hibban said in "al-Thiqat" (9/104): He sometimes erred and narrated unusual reports; or from his shaykh Abu Qurrah (Musa bin Tariq al-Zabidi), who narrates unusual reports, as Ibn Hibban also said in "al-Thiqat" (9/159); or it may be from al-Hasan bin Ali bin Ziyad (al-Surri al-Razi), about whom no criticism or commendation (jarh or ta'dil) has been reported, although a group of trustworthy hafiz scholars narrated from him.
وأخرجه أحمد 38/ (22934) عن محمد بن بكر البُرساني، عن ابن جُريج، أخبرني جعفر بن محمد، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (38/22934) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bakr al-Bursani, from Ibn Jurayj: Ja'far bin Muhammad informed me, with this chain.
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق في "المصنف" (3995)، وأخرجه البيهقي في "سننه الكبرى" 2/ 482 من طريق الحسين بن حفص الهَمْداني، كلاهما (عبد الرزاق والحسين بن حفص) عن سفيان الثوري، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه مرسلًا.
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq narrated it in "al-Musannaf" (3995), and al-Bayhaqi in his "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (2/482) through the route of al-Husayn bin Hafs al-Hamdani. Both of them (Abd al-Razzaq and al-Husayn bin Hafs) narrate it from Sufyan al-Thawri, from Ja'far bin Muhammad, from his father, as "mursal".
