It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The forerunners are four: I am the forerunner of the Arabs, Suhayb is the forerunner of the Romans, Salman is the forerunner of the Persians, and Bilal is the forerunner of the Abyssinians."
Mention of the virtues of Sayyiduna Uways bin Amir al-Qarani (may Allah be pleased with him) - Sayyiduna Uways is the monk (devoted worshipper) of this Ummah. He did not attain the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (that is, he is a Tabi'i), but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned him and pointed to his excellence. That is why I have mentioned him in the list of those who were martyred at the Battle of Siffin alongside the Commander of the Faithful, Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
