Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5173

Muhammad bin Umar said: After that, Salamah bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) escaped (from captivity) and joined the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah; this was after the Battle of the Trench. On his arrival his mother, Duba'ah bint Amir bin Qurt, said (these verses in joy): "O Allah, Lord of the honoured Ka'bah, grant Salamah victory over every enemy. He is highly skilled in obscure and intricate affairs; one of his hands is generous in giving and the other bestows favours." He then remained constantly in the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. Then, when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) dispatched armies for jihad against the Romans, he went to Syria with the Muslims. Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred at Marj al-Suffar in Muharram of the year 14 AH, during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
Mention of the merits of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah al-Khazraji, the Naqib (may Allah be pleased with him).
