It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Ali! Glad tidings for the one who loves you and speaks the truth about you, and woe to the one who hates you and lies about you."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "extremely weak" (wahin). Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because Sa'id bin Muhammad al-Warraq and his shaykh Ali bin Hazwar are both "matruk", as al-Dhahabi said in his "Talkhis". 10/ 102. Reference / Source: It is in Ahmad bin Hanbal's "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (1162), and by way of him al-Khatib recorded it in "Tarikh Baghdad" (10/ 102). Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la recorded it in his "Musnad" (1602), Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (5/ 186), al-Khatib in "Mudih Awham al-Jam' wa al-Tafriq" (2/ 273), Abu al-Qasim al-Asbahani in "al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib" (2342), Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (12/ 280-281), Ibn al-Tuyuri in "al-Tuyuriyyat" (820) and Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-'Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (391) by way of al-Hasan bin 'Arafah, from Sa'id bin Muhammad al-Warraq, with it. Reference / Source: Ibn 'Asakir (42/ 281-282) recorded it by way of Yahya bin Hashim al-Ghassani, from Ali bin Hazwar, with it, with additional wording. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This Yahya bin Hashim is accused of lying. (4690). Important point: See the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that passed at number (4690). Reference / Source: It is narrated from Ali bin Abi Talib himself in Muslim (78) and elsewhere that he said: "By the One who split the seed and created the soul! It is the covenant of the unlettered Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to me: that none will love me except a believer, and none will hate me except a hypocrite."
