Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is weak and munkar.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): His nephew "Ahmad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Wahb" is alone in narrating it from Abd Allah bin Wahb, and this narrator is disputed and has munkar reports. Even if (the chain) were free of him, Yahya bin Ayyub (al-Ghafiqi al-Misri) has strange and munkar reports which the compilers of the Sahih collections avoid, sifting his hadith, though he is hasan al-hadith, as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Siyar" (8/6). Al-Dhahabi rejected this report in "Talkhis al-Mustadrak" and said: In it is Ahmad, the nephew of Ibn Wahb, who is munkar al-hadith, and he is one of those for whose inclusion in the Sahih Muslim was criticised; and Yahya bin Ayyub, although trustworthy, has also been declared weak. Moreover, had this been authentic, it would be an explicit text on the caliphate of the three; but it cannot be authentic in any way, because A'ishah at that time had not yet been taken into the Prophet's house, and she was a young girl kept in seclusion, so this statement of hers itself indicates that the hadith is false. End of quote.
Reference / Source: Al-Tahawi recorded it in "Sharh Mushkil al-Athar" (4738) from Ahmad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Wahb, with this chain, and in it is mentioned that the mosque was "Masjid Quba'".
Reference / Source: Nu'aym bin Hammad recorded it in "al-Fitan" (259), Abd Allah bin Ahmad in "al-Sunnah" (1406), Abu Ya'la (4884) and Ibn Asakir (30/219) via Hushaym bin Bashir, from al-Awwam bin Hawshab, from someone who narrated it to him from A'ishah. In it, (the mosque) is "the mosque of Madinah".
Grading: This chain is weak because the intermediary between al-Awwam and A'ishah is unnamed.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym al-Asbahani recorded it in "Fada'il al-Khulafa' al-Rashidin" (182) via Ali bin Salih al-Anmati, from Yazid bin Harun, from al-Awwam bin Hawshab, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, from A'ishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The leaders of the caliphate after me are Abu Bakr and Umar."
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Dhahabi cited it in the biography of Ali bin Salih in "Mizan al-I'tidal" and said: This al-Anmati is unknown and has a false report; then al-Dhahabi said: The one accused of fabricating it is Ali (al-Anmati), since the other narrators are trustworthy. We say: Al-Dhahabi did not notice that Ibn Hibban mentioned al-Anmati in "al-Thiqat" (8/470) and said of him: "mustaqim al-hadith" (sound in hadith)! However, Ibn Hibban is alone in declaring him trustworthy, and he is well known for leniency (in this matter). Ali bin Salih is alone with this chain, and he is the one accused regarding it, as al-Dhahabi said; otherwise, where are the other students of Yazid bin Harun with this narration?!
