It is narrated from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and his wife Sayyidah Ruqayyah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), set out from Makkah to Abyssinia in the first emigration. Then they came back to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah, and then emigrated (again) to Madinah.
The two Shaykhs agreed on recording the hadith of Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah and others from Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri about Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) setting out to the land of Abyssinia, and they cited the entire long hadith; that is why I have confined myself to the narration of Musa bin Uqbah from Ibn Shihab. Ibn Ishaq mentioned in al-Maghazi that, according to what people said, there was no one in all of Arabia and Abyssinia more beautiful than Ruqayyah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), may Allah be pleased with her.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (3) Its narrators are "thiqah" (trustworthy). Ibn Shihab (al-Zuhri) took it from a group, among them Abu Bakr bin Abd al-Rahman bin al-Harith, Sa'id bin al-Musayyab and Urwah, as in al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Awsat" (3) and al-Tahawi's "Ahkam al-Qur'an" (410). And al-Tahawi said after it: "The munqati' (mursal) narration of Ibn al-Musayyab stands in the place of a connected (muttasil) one."
Note / Error (wahm): (4) This is an error (wahm) of the author (al-Hakim), because only al-Bukhari narrated this hadith, not Muslim. In al-Bukhari it is narrated "mu'allaq" (without a connected chain) at no. 3927 through the route of Bishr bin Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah from his father, and "mawsul" (connected) at no. 3696 through the route of Yunus bin Yazid and at nos. 3872 and 3927 through the route of Ma'mar. All three of them narrate it from al-Zuhri.
