Book of the Distribution of Fay
الَّذِي مَاتَ مُرَابِطًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يَنْمُو لَهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيُؤَمَّنُ فِتْنَةَ الْقَبْرِ .
One who dies guarding the frontier in the path of Allah, his deeds continue to grow until the Day of Resurrection

قال فَضَالةُ: وسمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "كلُّ مَيتٍ يُختَم على عَمَله إِلَّا الذي مات مُرابطًا في سبيل الله، يَنمُو له عملُه إلى يوم القيامة، ويُؤْمَّنُ فتنةَ القبر" (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The deeds of every deceased person are sealed at his death, except for the one who dies while guarding the frontiers (ribat) in the path of Allah; his deeds continue to grow until the Day of Resurrection, and he is kept safe from the trial (fitnah) of the grave."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

وأخرجه أحمد (39/ 23951)، والترمذي (1621)، وابن حبان (4624) من طرق عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد. وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن صحيح.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi called it "a hasan sahih hadith".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (39/23951), al-Tirmidhi (1621) and Ibn Hibban (4624) narrated it through various routes from 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak with this same chain.
