Nafi' narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away, the sun went into eclipse, and the people thought that the sun had gone into eclipse because of his death. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said: "O people! The sun and the moon are only two of the signs of Allah; they do not go into eclipse because of anyone's death or life. So when you see that, stand up for prayer, remember Allah, supplicate and give charity."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) It is a "sahih hadith"; although Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji is weak, he has been corroborated, and the words "supplicate and give charity" also have supporting reports. Reference / Source: Ibn Khuzaymah (1400) narrated it through Muhammad bin Yahya from 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Uwaysi. (1249). Reference / Source: Ahmad (10/5883), al-Bukhari (1042), Muslim (914), al-Nasa'i and Ibn Hibban narrated it from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). It does not contain the words "supplicate and give charity", but a supporting report for these words is found in the hadith of 'A'ishah (no. 1249).
