It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ja'far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) to the land of Abyssinia. When he returned, he (peace and blessings be upon him) embraced him and kissed him between his eyes, then said: "Shall I not give you a gift, shall I not give you glad tidings, shall I not present you with a present and a rare thing?" He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pray four rak'ahs, and in every rak'ah recite Surah al-Fatihah and some other surah. Then after the recitation, while still standing and before bowing, say fifteen times: 'Subhan Allah, wa al-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah). Then bow and say it ten times; then raise your head from the bowing and say it ten times; then prostrate and say it ten times; then, before standing up (for the second rak'ah), say it ten times. In this way the first rak'ah will be complete. Then do the same in the remaining three rak'ahs until the four rak'ahs are complete."
This chain is sahih (authentic), with no ambiguity in it. One proof of the authenticity of this hadith is that from the era of the followers of the Successors (Atba' al-Tabi'in) up to our own time, the imams have acted upon it and have kept teaching it to people, among them Abdullah bin al-Mubarak.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) This chain is "extremely weak" (talif); al-Daraqutni called Ahmad bin Dawud al-Harrani "matruk kadhdhab" (abandoned, a liar), and according to Ibn Hibban he used to fabricate hadiths. Ishaq bin Kamil is also a narrator who reports munkar narrations. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Da'awat al-Kabir" (445) through the chain of al-Hakim.
Grading: (2) Al-Hafiz al-'Iraqi, in critical response to this, said that this narration is completely dark (muzlim) and has no light upon it.
