Musnad Ishaq bin Rahwayh 94 — Permission for tayammum
أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، نا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا نَكُونُ فِي هَذَا الرَّمْلِ الْأَشْهُرَ الثَّلَاثَةَ وَالْأَرْبَعَةَ، وَفِينَا النُّفَسَاءُ وَالْحَائِضُ، وَالْجُنُبُ وَلَسْنَا نَجِدُ الْمَاءَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْأَرْضِ)) .
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Some Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! We stay in this desert for three or four months, among us are women in postnatal bleeding and menstruation, and also strangers, and we do not find water, (what should we do?) The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Use earth (and perform tayammum)."
