Musnad Imam Shafi'i 261 — the Prophet (ﷺ) would turn to his right
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، يَعْنِي: ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ بُخْتٍ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى خَدَّاهُ.
It is narrated from Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) would turn to his right and left while saying salam, until his cheeks would become visible.
