Musnad Imam Shafi'i 199 — he states: "Whenever the Messenger of Allah
أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا خَفَضَ وَرَفَعَ فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ صَلَاتَهُ حَتَّى لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
It is narrated from Ali bin Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) that he states: "Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would bow or rise in prayer, he would say the takbeer. This was always his way of praying until he departed to Allah."
