مَنْ أَحْسَنَ صَلَاتَهُ حِينَ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ، ثُمَّ أَسَاءَهَا حِينَ يَخْلُو فَتِلْكَ اسْتِهَانَةٌ اسْتَهَانَ بِهَا رَبَّهُ
Whoever perfects his prayer when seen by people, but spoils it in private, has belittled his Lord

506 - أنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَدْفُوِيُّ، أنا أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْحَرِيرِيُّ إِجَازَةً نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ نا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، نا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهَجَرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ أَحْسَنَ صَلَاتَهُ حِينَ يَرَاهُ النَّاسُ، وَأَسَاءَهَا حِينَ يَخْلُو فَتِلْكَ اسْتِهَانَةٌ اسْتَهَانَ بِهَا رَبَّهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs his prayer well when people are watching him, and performs it badly when he is alone, this is mockery. With this, he has mocked his Lord."
