It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) received a piece of land in Khaybar as his share. He went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and wanted to consult him about it. So he said: O Messenger of Allah! A piece of land from Khaybar has come to me as my share, and I have never received wealth better than this. What do you command me regarding it? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you wish, keep its original property with you and give its benefits as charity." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) dedicated it for the poor, close relatives, slaves, warriors, travelers, and guests, and said that there is no harm for the caretaker of this land to eat from it in a good manner or to feed a friend from it, provided he does not seek to accumulate wealth from it.

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that whenever Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would reach the area near the Haram, he would stop reciting the Talbiyah. When he reached the place of Dhi Tuwa, he would spend the night there, and after morning came, he would perform the Fajr prayer, take a bath, and inform that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same. Then, at the time of Duha, he would enter Makkah Mukarramah, and upon reaching near the House of Allah, he would perform Istilam of the Black Stone «بسم الله ، والله اكبر» and say, in the first three circuits of Tawaf, he would perform Raml, but between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone, he would walk at a normal pace. When he reached the Black Stone, he would perform Istilam and say Takbir. The remaining four circuits he would complete at a normal pace. He would then go to the Station of Ibrahim, stand upon it, say Takbir seven times, and then say: There is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent.

Abdul Khaliq says that once I asked Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Musayyib, may Allah have mercy on him, about nabidh (a type of drink). He replied that I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, saying near this pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that once a delegation of Banu Abdul Qais came with their leader. They asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about drinks. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied to them: Do not drink from hantam, dubba, or naqir. I asked him, "O Abu Muhammad! Is 'muzaffat' also included in this prohibition?" I thought perhaps he had forgotten this word, but he said, "On that day, I did not hear Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, mentioning it, although he certainly disliked it."
Hadith 4630

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Ghaylan bin Salamah Thaqafi accepted Islam, he had ten wives in his marriage. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Select four from them (and release the rest)." So he did so. And when the caliphate of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, he divorced his remaining wives as well and distributed all his wealth among his sons. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to know of this and said, "I think Satan has come to know of your impending death by secretly listening and has put this thought into your heart. It may be that you will live only a short while now. By Allah! Either you return to your wives and also revoke your distribution of inheritance, or else I will make your wives heirs on your behalf (and will give them their share), and I will order stones to be thrown at your grave, just as stones are thrown at the grave of Abu Righal, so will they be thrown at your grave."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a document written regarding the details of Zakat, but before sending it to his governors, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed this document with his sword (in its sheath). After the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) passing, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) continued to act upon it until he passed away, then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also continued to act upon it until he too passed away. In that document, it was written that for five camels, one goat is obligatory, for ten, two goats, for fifteen, three, for twenty, four, and for twenty-five, one bint makhad (a young she-camel) is obligatory. Abdullah bin Ahmad says: My father said: Upon reaching this point, I encountered some excuse in the gathering of Abad bin Awam; I wrote the hadith completely, but I think I did not understand some part of it, therefore I became doubtful about the rest of the hadith, due to which I left it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a written document prepared regarding the details of Zakat, but before sending it to his governors, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed this document with his sword (in its sheath). After the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) passing, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) acted upon it until he passed away, then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also acted upon it until he too passed away. In that document, it was written that for five camels, one goat is obligatory; for ten, two goats; for fifteen, three; for twenty, four; and for twenty-five, one bint makhad (a young she-camel in her second year) is obligatory. And this count remains up to thirty-five camels. If someone does not have a bint makhad, then he should give an ibn labun male (a young male camel in his third year). When the number of camels reaches thirty-six, up to forty-five, one bint labun (a young she-camel in her third year) is obligatory. When the number reaches forty-six, one hiqqah (a she-camel in her fourth year, able to be mounted by a male) becomes obligatory, and this ruling remains up to sixty. When the number reaches sixty-one, up to seventy-five, one jaz’ah (a she-camel in her fifth year) is obligatory. When the number reaches seventy-six, up to ninety, two bint labun are obligatory. When the number reaches ninety-one, up to one hundred and twenty, two hiqqah are obligatory, both able to be mounted by a male. When the number exceeds one hundred and twenty, then for every forty, one bint labun, and for every fifty, one hiqqah is obligatory. Regarding the Zakat of sa’imah (grazing) goats, the details are as follows: when the number of goats reaches forty, up to one hundred and twenty, one is obligatory; up to two hundred, two goats; and up to three hundred, three goats are obligatory. After that, up to four hundred, there is no increase, but when the number increases further, then for every hundred, one goat must be given. Also, to avoid Zakat, scattered animals should not be gathered, nor should gathered animals be separated, and if there are two types of animals (for example, goats and camels), then Zakat will be distributed equally between them, and in Zakat, an extremely old or defective goat will not be taken.
