Hadith 3746
Abu Al-Ahwas Al-Jashami reports that one day Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was delivering a sermon, when suddenly his gaze fell upon a snake crawling on the wall. He stopped his speech and struck it with his staff until it died. Then he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "Whoever kills a snake, it is as if he has killed a polytheist whose blood is lawful."
Hadith 3747
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Are these monkeys and pigs from among the descendants of the Jews?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Whenever Allah cursed a people and transformed their forms, He did not leave any offspring of theirs after destroying them. Rather, this creation already existed before; when Allah's wrath descended upon the Jews and He transformed their forms, He made them like these."

Once, some wealth came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from somewhere, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed it. I passed by two men, and one of them said to the other, "By Allah! This distribution is such that neither Allah's pleasure nor the home of the Hereafter is intended by it." I listened carefully to what they said and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You have said, 'No person should come to me with news about any of my companions.' Just now, I passed by such and such men, and they were saying this." Upon this, the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned red, then he said: "May Allah's mercy descend upon Musa; he was troubled even more than this, but he remained patient."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) faced the Ka'bah and invoked curses by name upon seven men of the Quraysh, among whom were Abu Jahl, Umayyah bin Khalaf, Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Shaybah bin Rabi'ah, and 'Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt. I swear by Allah that I saw all of them killed at the Battle of Badr, and they were dragged and thrown into a well. Since it was the hot season, their bodies had decomposed due to the heat of the sun.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) preferred the meat of the foreleg of a goat among the meat with bones, and it was the meat of the foreleg in which poison was mixed and given to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to eat, and the general belief was that it was the Jews who had mixed poison in the food of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For each one of you, a companion from among the jinn and a companion from among the angels has been appointed." The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Even with you?" He replied: "Yes! But Allah has helped me against him, so now he only commands me to speak the truth."
Hadith 3780
Abu Ishaq Shaibani says that once I came to Hazrat Zir bin Hubaish, there was a doorman appointed at his door, love for me was created in his heart (and he let me in), there were some young men with him, they said: ask him about the explanation of «﴿فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَى﴾ [النجم : 9]», so I asked him for its explanation, then he said: Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith to us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) who had six hundred wings.

Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that we were sitting with Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was teaching us the Qur'an. In the meantime, a man came and said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! Did you people ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) how many caliphs there will be in this Ummah? Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Since I have come to Iraq, no one before you has asked me this question until today. Then he said: Yes! We did ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) this question, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There will be twelve caliphs, like the number of chiefs of Bani Israel."

This is both a drink and purifying."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a man who, apart from affirming the Oneness of Allah, had never performed any good deed. When his death approached, he said to his family: "When I die, seize me and burn me, then when I have been burnt and turned to coal, crush me, then on a day when a strong wind is blowing, scatter me in the sea." His family did as he had instructed, but he was still within Allah's grasp. Allah asked him: "What made you do this?" He replied: "Your fear." Upon this, Allah forgave him.
