Hadith 1361
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Four things have been given to me which were not given to any prophet before me: the treasures of the earth have been given to me, my name has been kept Ahmad, the earth has been made a purifier for me like water, and my Ummah has been given the title of the best Ummah."

Nazzal bin Sabrah says that once we offered the Zuhr prayer with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), then he went to his seat where he used to sit near the Bab ar-Rahbah. When he sat, we also sat around him. When the time for Asr prayer came, a vessel was brought to him. He took a handful from it, rinsed his mouth, put water in his nose, wiped it over his face and hands, wiped over his head and feet, and then stood up and drank the remaining water while standing. He said: I have come to know that some people consider drinking water while standing to be disliked. I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) doing as I have done.
Hadith 1367
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There was a time with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when, due to the severity of hunger, I would tie stones to my stomach, and today the zakat on my wealth amounts to forty thousand dinars.
Hadith 1368
The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.
Hadith 1369
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Ali! After your first glance falls upon a non-mahram, do not cast a second glance at her, for the first glance will be forgiven for you, but the second will not be forgiven."
Hadith 1370
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when Hasan was born, he was named Hamza, and when Husayn was born, he was named Ja'far after his uncle. Later, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and said: "I have been commanded to change their names." I submitted, "Allah and His Messenger know best." Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named them, respectively, Hasan and Husayn.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered the Banu Abdul Muttalib for a meal. Among them were some people who could eat an entire kid goat and drink sixteen ratl of water. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had only one mudd (for ease, assume one kilogram) of food prepared for all of them. When they began to eat, all of them became full from that small amount of food, and the food remained as it was, as if no one had touched it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a little water, and all of them drank to their fill, but the water remained as it was, as if no one had touched it. After completing all these stages, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed them and said: "O Banu Abdul Muttalib! I have been sent specifically to you and generally to all of humanity, and you have just witnessed this miracle of food. Now, who among you will pledge allegiance to me on the condition that he will be my brother and my companion?" No one stood up at this. Seeing this—and although I was the youngest—I stood up. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to sit down and repeated his statement three times, and each time the same happened: I would stand up and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would order me to sit down, until the third time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on my hand (and accepted my pledge of allegiance).
Hadith 1372
Nazzal bin Sabrah says that once Syedna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) drank the leftover water from ablution while standing and said that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same.
Hadith 1373
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Ali! A treasure has been kept for you in Paradise and you are the owner of its two horns (the complete owner), so if your gaze falls upon a non-mahram, do not look at her again, because the first glance will be forgiven for you but the second will not be forgiven."
Hadith 1374
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began the sacrifice, he slaughtered thirty camels with his blessed hand and ordered me, so I slaughtered the remaining camels. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Distribute the skins and saddlecloths of these camels as well, and also distribute the meat, and do not give the butcher anything from them as wages."

Asim bin Damrah says that once we asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer voluntary prayers during the day. He replied: You do not have the strength to pray as he did. We said: Please tell us, we will try to act upon it as much as we are able. He said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after offering the Fajr prayer, would wait for a while, and when the sun would rise in the east to the extent that it is in the west after the Asr prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand and offer two rak‘ahs of prayer. Then he would wait for a while, and when the sun would rise in the east to the extent that it is in the west after the Zuhr prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand and offer four rak‘ahs of prayer. Then, after the sun had passed its zenith, he would offer four rak‘ahs before Zuhr, two rak‘ahs after Zuhr, and four rak‘ahs before Asr. And in every two rak‘ahs, he would recite words of peace (the tashahhud) for the close angels, the noble prophets (peace be upon them), and the Muslims and believers who follow them.
Hadith 1376
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "The same will happen to you as happened with Jesus (peace be upon him): the Jews bore enmity towards him to the extent that they accused his mother of a grave sin, and the Christians loved him so much that they raised him to a status which was not his." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that two types of people will be destroyed concerning me: one, those who go to extremes in love and raise me to a status which is not mine; and the other, those who bear enmity and, out of their hatred, attribute to me things which have nothing to do with me.
Hadith 1377
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and said: "The same will happen to you as happened with Jesus (peace be upon him): the Jews bore enmity towards him to the extent that they accused his mother of a great sin, and the Christians loved him so much that they elevated him to a status which was not his." Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that two types of people will be destroyed concerning me: one, those who go to extremes in love and grant me a status which is not mine; and the other, those who bear enmity and, in their hostility, attribute to me such accusations which have nothing to do with me. Beware! I am not a prophet, nor does revelation come to me. I only act, to the best of my ability, upon the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Therefore, regarding obedience to Allah, whatever command I give you—whether you like it or dislike it—it is my right that you obey me in it.
