It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at the plain of Arafat during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said: "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Arafah is a place of standing." Then after sunset, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed, seated Sayyiduna Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him, and increased the pace of his mount. People began to rush to the right and left, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards them and said, "O people! Adopt calmness and tranquility." Then when he reached Muzdalifah, he combined the Maghrib and Isha prayers and stayed there the whole night. In the morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Jabal Qazah, stood there, and said, "This is the place of standing, and the whole of Muzdalifah is a place of standing." Then as he proceeded and reached the valley of Muhassir, he stopped there for a moment, then made his she-camel run swiftly until he had crossed that valley (because it was a place of punishment). Then he stopped his mount, seated Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him, and as he continued, he reached Mina, came to Jamrat al-Aqabah, and pelted it with pebbles. Then he went to the place of sacrifice and said, "This is the place of sacrifice, and the whole of Mina is a place of sacrifice." Meanwhile, a young woman from Banu Khath'am came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask a question and said, "My father is very old, he is almost finished, but Hajj is obligatory upon him. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! You can perform Hajj on behalf of your father." While saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned the neck of Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) (because he had started looking at the woman). Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) saw this and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! For what wisdom did you turn his neck?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I saw that both were young, and I did not feel secure from Satan regarding them, so I turned their faces away." After a short while, another man came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I had my hair cut before sacrificing, what should I do now?" He said, "Now perform the sacrifice, there is no harm." Another person came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I performed the Tawaf al-Ziyarah before shaving my head." He said, "No problem, now shave or shorten your hair." After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the Sacred Mosque for Tawaf al-Ziyarah, performed Tawaf, drank Zamzam, and said, "O Banu Abd al-Muttalib! Continue fulfilling the responsibility of giving water to the pilgrims. If people did not overpower you, I would also draw water from it with a bucket."
Hadith 563
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sprinkling water over the urine of a boy is sufficient, and whatever the urine of a girl touches should be washed." Qatadah says that this ruling is until they begin to eat and drink, and when they start eating and drinking, then whatever the urine of either touches must be washed.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to visit a sick person, he would make this supplication: "O Lord of the people! Remove this distress and pain, grant him healing, for You are the only Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves behind no trace of illness."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I were to appoint someone as a leader over the Muslims without consulting them, I would appoint Ibn Umm Abd, that is, Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)."
Hadith 567
The mother of Amr bin Salim says: We were in the plain of Mina when we heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are the days of eating and drinking, so no one should fast on these days." And he continued to announce this among the people while sitting on his mount, which was a camel.
Hadith 568
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) in a marfu’ form that whoever relates a false dream will be made responsible on the Day of Resurrection to tie a knot in a grain of barley (he will be ordered to do so).
Hadith 569
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to offer the two Sunnah rak'ahs of Fajr close to the time of Iqamah.
Hadith 570
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was a specific time during the pre-dawn meal (sahri) when I would present myself in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing and performing prayer at that time, he would say "Subhan Allah," which was a sign that I was permitted to enter. And if he was not performing prayer at that time, he would simply grant permission (and there would be no need to say "Subhan Allah").
Hadith 571
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us; both I and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) were sleeping, it was morning time. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood at the door and said, "Why do you not pray (the morning prayer)?" I replied, "O Messenger of Allah! Our souls are in Allah's control; when He wishes to wake us, He wakes us." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not reply to me and went back. I listened carefully and heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) striking his thigh with his hand and saying, "Man is very argumentative indeed."
Hadith 572
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his noble wife used to perform ghusl from the same vessel.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Yemen. I reached a people who had dug a pit and covered it to hunt a lion (the lion came and fell into it). While they were doing this, suddenly a man fell into the pit, then a second, then a third, until four men fell in. The lion in the pit wounded all of them. Seeing this, a man quickly grabbed a spear and struck the lion, killing it, and all four men also died from their wounds. The heirs of the deceased drew their weapons and stood facing each other for battle. In the meantime, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and said, "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is still alive; will you engage in mutual killing while he is alive? I will judge between you. If you are satisfied with this, then consider the matter settled, but if you think this does not satisfy you, then you may go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and have him decide; he will judge between you, and whoever exceeds the limit after that will not be upon the truth." The decision is that the people of these tribes who participated in digging the pit should collect a quarter blood money, a third blood money, half blood money, and full blood money, and give the heirs of the one who first fell into the pit and was wounded by the lion a quarter blood money, the second a third, and the third a half blood money. They refused to accept this decision (because they did not understand it), so they went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who was at Maqam Ibrahim at that time. They narrated the whole story to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I will judge between you," and sat down. In the meantime, a man said, "O Messenger of Allah! Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had already judged between us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) enforced that same decision.
Hadith 574
According to this second narration, for the fourth man, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had decided upon the full blood money.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me, Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) to a certain place and said: "You people set out, when you reach Rawdat Khakh, there you will find a woman who will have a letter with her. Take that letter from her and return." So we set out, our horses were almost slipping from our hands, until we reached Rawdat Khakh. There, indeed, we found a woman. We said to her, "Hand over the letter you have." She said, "I have no letter." We said to her, "Either you hand over the letter yourself, or we will strip you naked." Compelled, she took out a letter from her hair braid and handed it over to us. We took that letter and presented it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When the letter was opened, it was found to be from Hatib bin Abi Balta'ah to some polytheists of Makkah, in which news of one of the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) decisions was conveyed. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him, "Hatib! What is this?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah! Do not be hasty in my matter. I do not belong to the Quraysh, but I have joined them. All the emigrants with you have relatives in Makkah who protect their families. I thought that I have no blood relatives there, so I would do them a favor so that in return they would protect my relatives. I did not do this as a disbeliever, or as an apostate, or preferring disbelief after Islam." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He has told you the truth." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), overcome with emotion, said: "Allow me to strike the neck of this hypocrite?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "He participated in the Battle of Badr, and what do you know, perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr from the heavens and said: 'Do whatever you wish, I have forgiven you.'"
Hadith 601
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from three things. Now I do not know whether this prohibition was specifically for me or general for everyone. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from (wearing) silk, from (using) a red saddle-cloth, and from reciting the Qur'an during bowing (ruku‘).
