It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Hazrat Umm Sulaim presented herself in the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah, Allah does not shy away from the truth. Please tell me, if a woman experiences a wet dream, is ghusl (ritual bath) obligatory upon her as well?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "Yes, if she sees water." Upon this, Hazrat Umm Salamah began to laugh and said, "Does a woman also have wet dreams?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then why does the child resemble its mother? Whichever fluid dominates in the womb, the resemblance becomes dominant from that."

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Hazrat Umm Habibah came to the presence of the Messenger of Allah and said, "O Messenger of Allah, are you interested in my sister?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "What do you mean?" She said, "You should marry her." The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Do you like this?" She replied, "Yes, I am not your only wife, so among those who can share in this goodness with me, my sister is the most deserving in my view." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "She is not lawful for me (because you are in my marriage)." She said, "By Allah, I have heard that you are going to send a marriage proposal for Durrah bint Umm Salamah." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Even if she were lawful for me, I would not marry her, because both I and her father (Abu Salamah) were suckled by Thuwaibah, the freed slave woman of Banu Hashim. In any case, do not present your sisters and daughters before me."

Hazrat Amir Muawiyah once sent a messenger to Hazrat Aisha and inquired whether the Prophet (peace be upon him) had ever performed any prayer after Asr. She replied, "Not with me, but Hazrat Umm Salamah has informed me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did so, so you should ask her!" Accordingly, they asked Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) this question, and she replied, "Yes, once the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the Asr prayer and came to my house because it was my turn that day, and he performed two rak'ahs there. I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what are these two rak'ahs which you have been commanded to perform?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, 'No, rather these are the rak'ahs which I used to perform after Zuhr, but I became so occupied with the distribution of wealth that the muezzin came to inform me of the Asr prayer, and I did not consider it appropriate to leave them (so I performed them now).'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever is afflicted by a calamity and says "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un" and then supplicates, "O Allah! Reward me for my affliction and grant me something better in exchange for it," Allah will reward him for his affliction and grant him something better in exchange. When my husband Abu Salamah passed away, I thought, "Who could be better than Abu Salamah?" Yet Allah honored me, gave me strength, and I recited this supplication. Consequently, I was married to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 26636
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah, how much should women let their garments hang down?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then let it hang down by one cubit, but no more than that."

Abdullah bin Harith says that once we were with Muawiyah when Ibn Zubair narrated this hadith from Aisha that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pray two rak'ahs after Asr. Muawiyah sent some people to Aisha, among whom I was also included. We asked her, and she replied that she herself had not heard this from the Prophet (peace be upon him), but she had been informed about it by Umm Salamah. Muawiyah then sent a messenger to Umm Salamah. Umm Salamah said, "The actual matter is that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) led the Zuhr prayer, and some wealth had arrived that day. The Prophet (peace be upon him) sat down to distribute it until the mu'adhdhin began to give the adhan for Asr. The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed the Asr prayer and came to my house, as it was my turn that day, and he prayed two short rak'ahs there. I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what are these two rak'ahs which you have been commanded to pray?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, 'No, rather these are the rak'ahs which I used to pray after Zuhr, but I became so occupied with the distribution of wealth that the mu'adhdhin came to inform me of the Asr prayer, so I did not think it appropriate to leave them (so I prayed them now).' Upon hearing this, Ibn Zubair said 'Allahu Akbar' and said, 'Does this not prove that the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed them at least once? By Allah, I will never leave them.' Muawiyah said, 'You always oppose, and as long as you live, you will continue to prefer opposition.'"

Abu Salamah says that once there was a difference of opinion between Hazrat Abu Hurairah and Ibn Abbas regarding a woman whose husband passes away and she gives birth to a child. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that after giving birth she can marry, while Hazrat Ibn Abbas said that she will observe the longer of the two waiting periods. Then they sent a messenger to Hazrat Umm Salamah, and she said that Sabi’ah bint Harith’s husband had passed away, and only fifteen days, that is, half a month after his death, she gave birth to a child. Then two men sent marriage proposals to Sabi’ah, and she inclined towards one of them. When people realized that she might choose one of them, they said, “You are not yet lawful (for marriage).” She went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “You have become lawful, so you may marry whomever you wish.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf came to her and said, "Mother, I fear that the abundance of wealth may destroy me, because I am the wealthiest among the Quraysh." She replied, "Son, spend it, because I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that some of my companions will be such that after my separation from them, they will never see me again." When Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf went out, he met Hazrat Umar on the way and told him this. Hazrat Umar himself went to Hazrat Umm Salamah and, entering the house, said, "Swear by Allah and tell me, am I also among them?" She replied, "No, but after you, I cannot say this about anyone."

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that all the pure wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) denied that breastfeeding an adult man establishes the relationship of fosterage, and that such a man could come to them. All of them, including Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), said that in our opinion, this was a concession which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given specifically to Salim, therefore, on the basis of this fosterage, no one can come to us nor can anyone see us.

Abu Ayyaz says that once Marwan sent a messenger to Umm Salama to ask her about a certain issue. She sent her freed slave to Marwan. She said that if it was obligatory for the Prophet (peace be upon him) to perform ghusl by choice, even then the Prophet (peace be upon him) would fast and would not miss it. The slave returned and conveyed this. Then Marwan sent his messenger to Aisha, and she also sent her slave to Marwan, and she gave the same answer. So Marwan said to the messenger, "Go to Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) and tell him this." So he went to Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him this hadith from Umm Salama and Aisha. He said, "They both know better."

Hadith 26664
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha and Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would be in a state of janabah in the morning without having seen a dream, by his own choice, and he would complete his fast.
Hadith 26665
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha that sometimes the Prophet (peace be upon him) would be in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) in the morning, then he would perform ghusl (ritual bath) and complete the fast for the rest of the day.

Urwah narrates that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the fast of a person who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) in the morning is not valid. Once, Marwan bin Hakam sent me with a man to Aisha and Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them) to ask: If a person enters the morning in Ramadan in a state of major ritual impurity and has not yet performed ghusl, what is the ruling? Both replied: Sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the morning in a state of major ritual impurity not by choice, and he would complete his fast. We both returned and informed Marwan of this. Marwan told me to inform Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) of this. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This was told to me by Fadl bin Abbas, but those two (Aisha and Umm Salamah) know better.

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) through Abu Salamah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you is afflicted by a calamity, he should say "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un" and then say: "O Allah, I seek reward from You for this calamity, so grant me reward for it and grant me a better substitute for it." When Abu Salamah fell ill with his fatal illness, I prayed: "O Allah, decide good for my husband." When he passed away, I recited the aforementioned supplication, and when I wanted to say, "Grant me a better substitute for him," the thought came to my mind: Who could be better than Abu Salamah? But still, I kept saying it. When my waiting period ('iddah) ended, Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar sent marriage proposals one after the other, but I rejected them. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me a marriage proposal. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, none of my guardians are present here." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "None of your guardians, whether absent or present, will dislike it." She said to her son, Umar bin Abi Salamah, "You arrange my marriage with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he gave Hazrat Umm Salamah in marriage to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her, "Whatever I have given to your sisters (my wives), I will not give you less than that: two millstones, a water-skin, and a leather pillow stuffed with palm fiber." After that, whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to her for privacy, as soon as she saw him, she would take her daughter Zainab and seat her in her lap, and eventually the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would leave as he came. When Hazrat Ammar bin Yasir, who was Hazrat Umm Salamah's foster brother, learned of this, he came to Hazrat Umm Salamah and said, "Where is that dirty girl through whom you have been causing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distress?" and he took her away with him. This time, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and entered the house, he looked around all four corners of the room and then asked about the girl, "Where is Zanab (Zainab)?" She replied, "Hazrat Ammar came and took her with him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had privacy with her and said, "If you wish, I will spend seven days with you, but then I will also spend seven days with each of my other wives."
