Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a thief committed theft in her house, and she cursed him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not make light of his sin."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) postponed the Tawaf al-Ziyarah on the day of 10th Dhul-Hijjah until the night.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to kiss while in the state of fasting.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from this world when we used to fill our stomachs with two black things, that is, water and dates.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and showed me the moon which was rising, and said: Seek refuge with Allah from the evil of this dark night when it overspreads.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the woman "who, after attaining purity from her menstrual period, sees something that puts her in doubt," that this is blood from a vein.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was ill at night, so while lying on the bed he kept turning sides repeatedly. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "If any one of us did this, you would be displeased with them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Hardships continue to befall righteous people, and whenever a Muslim is afflicted with a thorn or something even less than that, one of his sins is forgiven and his rank is elevated."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer eleven rak‘ahs between ‘Isha and Fajr. He would say salam after every two rak‘ahs and would offer one rak‘ah as Witr. In the nawafil, he would perform such a long prostration that before he raised his head, any one of you could recite fifty verses. When the muezzin finished giving the first adhan, he would offer a brief prayer, then lie down on his right side until the muezzin would come and inform the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that it was time for prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never performed the Duha prayer, but I do perform it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the Isha prayer, until Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) called out, saying that the women and children have fallen asleep. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and said: "There is no one among the people of the earth at this time who is offering this prayer except you." This was at a time when Islam had not yet spread among the people. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

Haddathana Hajjaj, haddathana Layth, qala: haddathani ‘Uqayl, ‘an Ibn Shihab, ‘an ‘Urwah, ‘an ‘Aisha informed him: "That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delayed the ‘Isha prayer one night, then mentioned its meaning."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I have not seen anyone performing the Zuhr prayer more quickly than the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Daqrah says that once we were performing Tawaf with Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when someone from her family came and said, "You are sweating, please change your clothes." So she took off her upper garment. I presented my sheet to her, which had a cross mark on it. She said that whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a cross mark on any cloth, he would remove it. Therefore, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) did not wear that sheet.

Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman says that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that if a person is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) in the morning, his fast is not valid. When Marwan found out, he once sent me with another man to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask: If a person enters the morning in Ramadan in a state of major ritual impurity and has not yet performed ghusl, what is the ruling? She replied: Sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the morning in a state of major ritual impurity, not due to a wet dream but by choice, and he would complete his fast. Both of us returned and informed Marwan of this. Marwan told me to inform Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) of this. I said that he is my neighbor, and I do not like to present anything unpleasant before him. But Marwan made me swear, so I met him and told him: I did not want to mention this before you, but the governor made me swear. Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This was narrated to me by Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prohibition of fosterage is not established by sucking milk from a woman's breast once or twice.

Hasan says that a person asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the character of the Prophet (peace be upon him), so she replied that the character of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was the Qur'an.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wished to sleep in a state requiring ghusl, he would wash his private parts and perform ablution as for prayer.

Aswad and Masruq say that once we began to ask Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the ruling of "physical intimacy for a fasting person," but we felt shy while asking her, so we stood up without asking her. We had only walked a short distance—"the distance I do not remember"—when it occurred to us that we had gone to her to ask an important matter and returned without asking. Thinking this, we went back and said, O Mother of the Believers! We had come to you to ask a question, but due to shyness, we left without asking. She said, you may ask whatever you wish. We asked her this question, and she replied: Although the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had more control over his desires than you, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would touch his wives' bodies with his own body.

A man said that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "How much water was sufficient for the Prophet (peace be upon him) for ghusl (ritual bath) after janabah?" Upon this, she called for a vessel. I estimated it, and it was equal to one sa’ according to the present measure of sa’.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I applied perfume to the Ihram of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with my own hands when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter into Ihram, and I also applied perfume after he became lawful (halal) before performing the Tawaf of Ziyarat.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I used to braid the collars of the sacrificial animals of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with my own hands, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would send them off, and he would not leave any of the acts he used to do before.

Abdullah bin Shaqiq reports that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the voluntary prayers of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray four rak‘ahs in my house before the Zuhr prayer, then he would go out and lead the people in prayer, and after returning to my house he would pray two rak‘ahs. Then, after leading the people in the Maghrib prayer, he would come home and pray two rak‘ahs. Then he would lead the ‘Isha prayer and come to my house and pray two rak‘ahs. At night, he would pray nine rak‘ahs, which included Witr. In the night prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for a long time and sit for a considerable period. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite, bow, and prostrate both while standing and sitting. And when the true dawn appeared, he would pray two rak‘ahs, then go out and lead the people in the Fajr prayer.

It is narrated from Imam Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that once Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to a preacher of Madinah Munawwarah, whose name was Ibn Abi Sa’ib: “There are three things which you must acknowledge before me, otherwise I will fight with you.” He asked, “What are they, O Mother of the Believers? I acknowledge them before you.” She said: “Firstly, avoid composing rhymed phrases in supplication, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do so. Secondly, in the Friday gathering, deliver the sermon to the people only once; if not, then twice, but not three times, so that you do not cause people to become weary of this book. Thirdly, I should never find you going to people while they are engaged in their own conversations and you interrupting them; rather, leave them as they are. If they allow you to come forward and permit you to join their conversation, then participate in their discussion.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in the prostration of recitation: "My face has prostrated before the One Who created it and granted it the power of hearing and speech, and this prostration has also occurred with His ability and help."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray in those clothes in which he would have "privacy" with his family.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the brother of Abu Qais, "Aflah," sought permission to enter the house of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) considered him a non-mahram and refused to grant permission. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, she mentioned it to him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah! The brother of Abu Qais, Aflah, sought permission to enter my house, but I refused to grant permission." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allow him to enter." She said, "O Messenger of Allah! The woman suckled me, not the man." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "He is your uncle, allow him to enter."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the two rak'ahs before Fajr, the standing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seemed as if only Surah Al-Fatihah had been recited.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once, at night, the family of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a leg of a goat to us. I took it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) broke it, and this was done without a lamp. If we had a lamp, we would have used it to get the gravy. And sometimes a whole month would pass over the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a way that they would neither bake any bread nor cook any stew.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the blessed body of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became heavy, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform prayer sitting, as much as Allah willed, and when thirty or forty verses of the surah remained, he would stand up, recite them, and then go into bowing (ruku).

A woman says that once I went to the service of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and saw a spear placed in her house. I asked her, "O Mother of the Believers! What do you do with this spear?" She replied, "It is kept for these lizards and I kill them with it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated this hadith to us: When Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was thrown into the fire, there was no animal on the earth that did not try to extinguish the fire except the lizard, which was blowing on it (to ignite it further)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that regarding this verse "The Day when the earth will be changed to another earth, and the heavens [as well], and they [all] will appear before Allah, the One, the Prevailing" , I was the first to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it. I said, O Messenger of Allah! (When the earth will be changed) where will the people be at that time? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: On the Bridge of Sirat.

Abdullah bin Shaqiq says that once I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recite several surahs in one rak'ah?" She replied, "The Mufassalat." I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pray while sitting?" She replied, "He started doing so after the number of people increased." I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) use to pray the Duha prayer?" She replied, "No, except when he returned from a journey." I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ever fast the entire month?" She replied, "I do not know of any month, except Ramadan, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted the entire month, and I do not know of any month in which he did not fast at all." Abdullah says, "I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), 'Who was the most beloved to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) among his companions?' She replied, 'Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).' I asked, 'After him?' She replied, 'Umar.' I asked, 'After him?' She replied, 'Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah.' I asked, 'After him?' Then she remained silent."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that on the occasion of the two Eids, even virgin girls, despite their seclusion, were taken to the Eidgah with the intention (of obtaining the Prophet's prayers and blessings).

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever likes to meet Allah, Allah likes to meet him, and whoever dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him. Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! If disliking to meet Allah means disliking death, then by Allah, every one of us dislikes death." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No, this is not what is meant. Rather, when Allah intends to take the soul of a believing servant, He reveals to him the reward and honor He has prepared for him with Himself, so at the time of his death, he desires to meet Allah, and Allah likes to meet him. And when Allah intends to take the soul of a disbeliever, He reveals to him the punishment and humiliation He has prepared for him with Himself, so at the time of his death, he dislikes to meet Allah, and Allah dislikes to meet him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I used to twist the collars of the sacrificial animals, i.e., goats, of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and after that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not refrain from anything (from which a pilgrim in the state of Ihram refrains) until the pilgrims returned.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of an adult girl is not accepted without a head covering (dupatta).

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayer of a girl is not accepted without a head covering (dupatta).

It is narrated from Amir that he asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the meaning of these two verses: "Whether you disclose what is in your hearts or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it," and that "whoever does an evil deed will be recompensed for it." She replied: Since the day I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about these verses, no one has asked me about them until today. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Aisha! What is meant by this are the successive calamities that Allah afflicts His servant with, such as being bitten by an animal, suffering pain, being pricked by a thorn, or losing something a person keeps in his sleeve and then, after searching anxiously, finds it between his sides, until the believer comes out of his sins just as a red gold nugget comes out of the furnace.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with about one mudd of water and would perform ghusl with about one sa’ of water.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once it was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that some people dislike turning their private parts towards the Qiblah. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do they do that? Turn the direction of my sitting place in the toilet towards the Qiblah."
