When Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard the commotion of the people, she asked, “What is this matter?” I told her that a man has been caught intoxicated with wine and is being beaten. She said, “Subhan Allah! I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Whoever drinks wine is not a believer at the time he is drinking wine; whoever commits adultery is not a believer at the time he is committing adultery; whoever steals is not a believer at the time he is stealing; and whoever plunders a valuable thing—something that makes people raise their heads to look at it—is not a believer at the time he is plundering it. It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a Jewish woman came to my door and, while asking for food, said, "Feed me, may Allah protect you from the trial of Dajjal and the punishment of the grave." I kept her with me until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came. I said to him, "O Messenger of Allah! What is this Jewish woman saying?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What is she saying?" I said, "She is saying, 'May Allah protect you from the trial of Dajjal and the punishment of the grave.'" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, spread his hands, and began to supplicate to Allah for protection from the trial of Dajjal and the punishment of the grave. Then he said, "As for the trial of Dajjal, there has not been any prophet who did not warn his nation about him, and I will warn you about him in such a way that no prophet before me has warned his nation. Know that he will be one-eyed, and Allah, the Exalted, cannot be one-eyed. Between his two eyes will be written 'Kafir' (disbeliever), which every believer will read. As for the trial of the grave, you will be tested through me, and you will be asked about me. If the deceased is a righteous person, the angels will make him sit in his grave in such a way that he will have no fear or anxiety. Then he will be asked, 'In what religion did you spend your life?' He will say, 'In Islam.' He will be asked, 'Who was the man who was among you?' He will say, 'Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who came to us with clear signs from Allah, and we affirmed him.' Then a door to Hell will be opened for him and it will be said, 'If you had disbelieved in your Lord, this would have been your abode, but since you believed, your abode is elsewhere.' Then a door to Paradise will be opened for him, and when he tries to get up and enter Paradise, the angel will tell him to remain at ease, and his grave will be made spacious for him. But if he is an evil person, when the angel asks him, 'What do you say about this man?' he will reply, 'I do not know, I only heard people saying something.' The angel will say, 'You neither knew nor recited nor were guided.' Then a door to Paradise will be opened for him, and the angel will say, 'If you had believed in your Lord, this would have been your abode, but since you disbelieved, you were in doubt, you died in this state and will be raised in this state (InshaAllah).' Then he will be punished, and thus Allah has changed your abode from here, and a door to Hell will be opened for him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person is near death, angels come to him. If he is a righteous person, they say to him, 'O pure soul, who resided in a pure body, come out, come out praiseworthy, and receive the glad tidings of rest and provision and of meeting a Lord who is not angry with you.' These words are repeated to him until his soul departs. Then he is taken up to the heavens, the door is knocked, and a voice asks, 'Who is it?' It is replied, 'So-and-so.' The inhabitants of the heavens say, 'Welcome to the pure soul who resided in a pure body! Enter praiseworthy, and receive the glad tidings of rest and provision and of meeting a Lord who is not angry with you.' These words are said to him at every heaven until he is taken to the heaven where the Lord of the worlds Himself is present.

And if he is a sinful person, the angels say, 'O wicked soul, who resided in a wicked body, come out, come out blameworthy, and receive the tidings of boiling water and thorny food, and other kinds of punishments.' These words are repeated to him until his soul departs. The angels then ascend with him to the heavens and knock on the door. It is asked, 'Who is it?' It is said, 'So-and-so.' The reply comes, 'There is no welcome for this wicked soul who resided in a wicked body. Return blameworthy as you came; the doors of the heavens will not be opened for you.' Thus, he returns from the heavens and goes back into the grave.

Then the righteous person is made to sit in his grave, and all the same words are said to him as were said the first time. The sinful person is also made to sit in his grave, and the same is said to him as was said before."

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was awake at night and she was lying beside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I said, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the matter?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I wish that some righteous man from among my companions would stand guard tonight." While these words were being exchanged, I heard the sound of weapons clinking. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Who is it?" He replied, "I am Sa'd bin Malik." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What brings you here?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah! I have come to guard you." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that after that, during sleep, I heard the sound of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) snoring.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a goat was given as a gift to Hazrat Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) from somewhere. Both of us were fasting that day. She made me break my fast with it; she was her father's daughter. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us, we mentioned this to him. He said: Both of you should fast another day in place of it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once Umm Habibah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), who was married to Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him), came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My menstrual bleeding continues all the time." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is blood from a vein, not menstrual blood. Therefore, during the days of menstruation, leave the prayers, and after that, perform ghusl and do wudu for every prayer." So she used to do accordingly.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we were divided into three groups: some of us performed both Hajj and Umrah, some performed only Hajj, and some performed only Umrah. So, whoever had assumed Ihram for both Hajj and Umrah did not become halal (i.e., did not come out of the state of Ihram) until all the rites of Hajj were completed. And whoever had assumed Ihram for Umrah, and after performing Tawaf, Sa’i, and shortening the hair, became halal until assuming Ihram for Hajj.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that during the Battle of the Trench, I went out following the footprints of the people. I heard the sound of the earth being split behind me. I turned around and suddenly Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared before me. With him was his nephew Harith bin Aws, who was carrying a shield. I sat down on the ground. Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by, wearing an iron coat of mail, parts of his body exposed, about which I feared harm might come to him, because Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) was the greatest and tallest among the people. As he passed near me, he was reciting this rajaz poetry: “Wait a little, the battle will bear its burden, and how good is the death that comes at its appointed time.” After that, I got up from there and entered a garden. I saw that a group of Muslims was present there, among whom was Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), and one of them had a helmet on his head. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw me and said, “Why have you come? By Allah, you are very bold! How did you become fearless of the possibility that some calamity might befall you or someone might seize you?” He kept reproaching me until I wished that the earth would split open and I would be swallowed by it. Meanwhile, that man removed the helmet from his face, and it was Hazrat Talha bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said, “O Umar! Today you have really exceeded the limit. Where is there to go or to be gathered except to Allah?” Then, one of the polytheists of Quraysh, whose name was Ibn Arqah, began shooting arrows at Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, “Stop this target, for I am Ibn Arqah.” The arrow struck Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) in the vein of his arm and severed it. Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) prayed to Allah, “O Allah! Do not let me die until my eyes are cooled regarding the matter of Banu Qurayza.” The people of Banu Qurayza were his allies and freed slaves from the time of ignorance. In any case, his wound healed, and Allah sent a wind upon the polytheists and sufficed the Muslims from fighting, and Allah is Powerful and Dominant. Thus, Abu Sufyan and his companions returned to Tihamah, Uyainah bin Badr and his companions went to Najd, Banu Qurayza retreated to their forts, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to Madinah and, after removing his armor, ordered that a leather tent be set up for Sa’d in the mosque. Meanwhile, Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) came, with dust showing on his teeth, and said, “Have you put down your weapons? By Allah, the angels have not yet put down their weapons. Set out towards Banu Qurayza and fight them.” So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put on his coat of mail, announced the march among the people, and set out. On the way, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Banu Ghanm, who were neighbors living around the Prophet’s Mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “Has anyone passed by you?” They replied, “Dihyah Kalbi passed by us.” In fact, the beard, teeth, and face of Hazrat Dihyah Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him) resembled Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached near Banu Qurayza and laid siege to them, which lasted for twenty-five days. When the siege became severe and their troubles increased, someone advised them to surrender to the judgment of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They consulted Hazrat Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) in this matter, and he indicated by gesture that they would be killed. Upon this, they said, “We surrender to the judgment of Sa’d bin Mu’adh.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted this, and they laid down their arms. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Hazrat Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him), who was brought riding on a donkey with a saddle of palm fiber. His people surrounded him, saying, “O Abu Amr! These are your allies, freed slaves, and weak people, and those whom you know.” But he neither replied to them nor paid attention to them. When he reached near their houses, he turned to his people and said, “Now is the time when I will not care about the blame of any blamer for the sake of Allah.” When he approached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet said, “Stand up for your leader and help him dismount.” Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said...
