Hadith 24210
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ آيَاتٌ مُحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ ابْتِغَاءَ الْفِتْنَةِ وَابْتِغَاءَ تَأْوِيلِهِ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيلَهُ إِلا اللَّهُ وَالرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلا أُولُو الأَلْبَابِ سورة آل عمران آية 7 ، " فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِيهِ ، فَهُمْ الَّذِينَ عَنَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ " .
Narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Holy Qur'an: Allah is He Who has sent down to you the Book; in it are verses that are precise—they are the foundation of the Book—and others are ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow what is ambiguous thereof, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation. But no one knows its interpretation except Allah. And those firm in knowledge say: "We believe in it; all is from our Lord." And none will be reminded except those of understanding. And he said: When you see those who argue about the verses of the Qur'an, they are the ones Allah meant, so beware of them.
Hadith 24211
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الَّذِي يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَهُوَ مَاهِرٌ بِهِ مَعَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ ، وَالَّذِي يَقْرَؤُهُ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ شَاقٌّ ، فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites the Noble Qur'an with proficiency will be with the righteous and honorable angels, and whoever recites it with difficulty and perseverance will have a double reward.
Hadith 24212
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَمَسْرُوقٌ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ ، فَقُلْنَا لَهَا : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ ، وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَتْ : " أَيُّهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُعَجِّلُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَتْ : " كَذَاكَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ، وَالْآخَرُ أَبُو مُوسَى . .
Abu Atiyyah says that once I and Masruq went to the service of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said to her, "O Mother of the Believers! There are two companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), one of whom hastens in breaking the fast and also in prayer, while the other delays both breaking the fast and prayer." She asked, "Who is the one who hastens in breaking the fast and prayer?" We replied, "Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)." She said, "The Prophet (peace be upon him) also used to do the same." And the other companion was Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 24213
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ خَيْثَمَةَ ، وَقَالَ : " يُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ وَيُؤَخِّرُ السَّحُورَ " . .
Ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Sulayman, he said: I heard Khaythamah, and he said: "He hastens the breaking of the fast and delays the suhur."
Hadith 24214
حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا لِعَائِشَةَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَدُهُمَا يُعَجِّلُ الْمَغْرِبَ ، وَيُعَجِّلُ الْإِفْطَارَ ، وَالْآخَرُ يُؤَخِّرُ الْمَغْرِبَ ، وَيُؤَخِّرُ الْإِفْطَارَ ، فَذَكَرَهُ.
Mu’ammal narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Al-A’mash, from ‘Umara, from Abu ‘Atiyyah, who said: We said to Aisha: Two men from the companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, one of them hastens the Maghrib and hastens the breaking of the fast, and the other delays the Maghrib and delays the breaking of the fast, so she mentioned it.
Hadith 24215
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي بَعْضِ صَلَاتِهِ : " اللَّهُمَّ حَاسِبْنِي حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا " ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، مَا الْحِسَابُ الْيَسِيرُ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ يَنْظُرَ فِي كِتَابِهِ ، فَيَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْه ، إِنَّهُ مَنْ نُوقِشَ الْحِسَابَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَا عَائِشَةُ ، هَلَكَ ، وَكُلُّ مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُؤْمِنَ يُكَفِّرُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ عَنْه ، حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةُ تَشُوكُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) supplicating in a prayer: "O Allah! Make my reckoning easy." When he finished the prayer, I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by an easy reckoning?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "His book of deeds will be looked at and he will be pardoned. Aisha! On that day, whoever is questioned in detail about his account will be destroyed. And whatever hardship befalls a Muslim, even if a thorn pricks him, Allah, the Exalted, makes it an expiation for his sins."
Hadith 24216
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِي وَيَوْمِي وَبَيْنَ سَحْرِي وَنَحْرِي ، فَدَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَمَعَهُ سِوَاكٌ رَطْبٌ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ ، فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ لَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةً ، قَالَتْ : فَأَخَذْتُهُ ، فَمَضَغْتُهُ وَنَفَضْتُهُ وَطَيَّبْتُهُ ، ثُمَّ دَفَعْتُهُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَاسْتَنَّ كَأَحْسَنِ مَا رَأَيْتُهُ مُسْتَنًّا قَطُّ ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَيَّ ، فَسَقَطَ مِنْ يَدِه ، فَأَخَذْتُ أَدْعُو اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِدُعَاءٍ كَانَ يَدْعُو لَهُ بِهِ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ، وَكَانَ هُوَ يَدْعُو بِهِ إِذَا مَرِضَ ، فَلَمْ يَدْعُ بِهِ فِي مَرَضِهِ ذَلِكَ ، فَرَفَعَ بَصَرَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، وَقَالَ : " الرَّفِيقُ الْأَعْلَى ، الرَّفِيقُ الْأَعْلَى " ، يَعْنِي وَفَاضَتْ نَفْسُهُ ، فَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَمَعَ بَيْنَ رِيقِي وَرِيقِهِ فِي آخِرِ يَوْمٍ مِنْ أَيَّامِ الدُّنْيَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from this world in my house, on the day of my turn, between my chest and throat. That day, Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr came, and in his hand was a fresh miswak. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used the miswak with such excellence that I had never seen him use it in that manner before. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hand to give it to me, but the miswak fell from his hand. Seeing this, I began to recite those supplications which Hazrat Jibreel (peace be upon him) used to recite at the time of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) illness, but on this occasion, he had not recited those supplications. Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze towards the sky and said, "The Highest Companion, the Highest Companion," and at that very moment, the blessed soul of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed. In every situation, all praise is due to Allah, who united my saliva with that of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the last day of his life.
Hadith 24217
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ اضْطَجَعَ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the morning, he would perform two short rak'ahs, then lie down on his right side.
Hadith 24218
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ عَزْرَةَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : كَانَ لَنَا سِتْرٌ فِيهِ تِمْثَالُ طَائِرٍ ، فَكَانَ الدَّاخِلُ إِذَا دَخَلَ ، اسْتَقْبَلَهُ ، فَقَال لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، حَوِّلِي هَذَا ، فَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَخَلْتُ فَرَأَيْتُهُ ، ذَكَرْتُ الدُّنْيَا " ، وَكَانَتْ لَنا قَطِيفَةٌ ، كُنَّا نَقُولُ عَلَمُهَا مِنْ حَرِيرٍ ، فَكُنَّا نَلْبَسُهَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that we had a curtain on which there was a picture of a bird. Whenever someone entered the house, the first thing they would see was that curtain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Aisha! Change this curtain. Whenever I enter the house and my eyes fall upon it, the world comes to my mind." Similarly, we had a sheet about which we used to say that its designs were of silk, and we used to wear it.
Hadith 24219
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ سَائِبَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ قَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ " ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الَّتِي تَكُونُ فِي الْبُيُوتِ ، " وَأَمَرَنَا بِقَتْلِ الْأَبْتَرِ وَذِي الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ " ، قَالَ " إِنَّهُمَا يَلْتَمِسَانِ الْبَصَرَ ، وَيُسْقِطَانِ مَا فِي بُطُونِ النِّسَاءِ ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَهُمَا فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing snakes that live in houses, except for those snakes that have a short tail or two stripes, because such snakes cause blindness and cause women to miscarry, and whoever leaves these snakes (without killing them) is not from among us.
Hadith 24220
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ بِنْتُ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْتِيهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ فَيَقُولُ : " أَصْبَحَ عِنْدَكُمْ شَيْءٌ تُطْعِمُونِيهِ ؟ " ، فَتَقُولُ : لَا ، مَا أَصْبَحَ عِنْدَنَا شَيْءٌ كَذَاكَ ، فَيَقُولُ : " إِنِّي صَائِمٌ " ، ثُمَّ جَاءَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَتْ : أُهْدِيَتْ لَنَا هَدِيَّةٌ ، فَخَبَأْنَاهَا لَكَ ، قَالَ : " مَا هِيَ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : حَيْسٌ ، قَالَ : " قَدْ أَصْبَحْتُ صَائِمًا " ، فَأَكَلَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to her while he was fasting, and then ask, "Do you have anything with you this morning that you can feed me?" She would reply, "No, we have nothing with us this morning at this time." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say, "Then I am fasting." And sometimes he would come and Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) would say, "We have received a gift from somewhere, which we have kept for you," as happened on one occasion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "What is it?" She replied, "Hais (a type of sweet dish)." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I had intended to fast this morning," and then he ate it.
Hadith 24221
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً وَيُقَالُ لَهُ : ابْنُ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي زَيْنَبَ مَدِينِيٌّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فُضِّلَتْ الْجَمَاعَةُ عَلَى صَلَاةِ الْفَذِّ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The virtue of prayer with congregation is twenty-five degrees greater than praying alone.
Hadith 24222
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، مَا فَعَلَتْ الذَّهَبُ " ، فَجَاءَتْ مَا بَيْنَ الْخَمْسَةِ إِلَى السَّبْعَةِ أَوْ الثَّمَانِيَةِ أَوْ التِّسْعَةِ ، فَجَعَلَ يُقَلِّبُهَا بِيَدِهِ ، وَيَقُولُ " مَا ظَنُّ مُحَمَّدٍ بِاللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَوْ لَقِيَهُ وَهَذِهِ عِنْدَهُ ! أَنْفِقِيهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me during his illness of death: O Aisha! What happened to that gold? She brought some dinars, between five and nine, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to turn them over in his hand and said: With what assumption will Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) meet Allah while these dinars are with him? Spend them.
Hadith 24223
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُكْثِرُ أَنْ يَقُولَ فِي رُكُوعِهِ : " سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ ، رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي " ، يَتَأَوَّلُ الْقُرْآنَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to frequently say in his bowing and prostration: "Subhanaka Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika Rabbighfir li" and he used to act upon the Qur'an.
Hadith 24224
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مَخْلَدُ بْنُ خُفَافِ بْنِ إِيمَاءَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْخَرَاجُ بِالضَّمَانِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The profit of earnings is linked with the liability of guarantee.
Hadith 24225
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ ، عَنْ عُمرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَأَقُولُ قَرَأَ فِيهِمَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the Sunnah of Fajr so briefly that I would wonder, "Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) even recite Surah Al-Fatiha or not?"
Hadith 24226
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ : مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ فِي أَهْلِهِ ؟ قَالَتْ : " كَانَ فِي مِهْنَةِ أَهْلِهِ ، فَإِذَا حَضَرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ " .
Aswad says that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "What did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do in his house?" She replied that he used to be engaged in small household chores with his family, and when the time for prayer came, he would go for the prayer.
Hadith 24227
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَامِرٌ ، قَالَ : أَتَى مَسْرُوقٌ عَائِشَةَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، هَلْ رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَبَّهُ ؟ قَالَتْ : " سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ! لَقَدْ قَفَّ شَعْرِي لِمَا قُلْتَ ، أَيْنَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ ، مَنْ حَدَّثَكَهُنَّ ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى رَبَّهُ ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ : لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأَبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأَبْصَارَ سورة الأنعام آية 103 ، وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ سورة الشورى آية 51 ، وَمَنْ أَخْبَرَكَ بِمَا فِي غَدٍ ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الأَرْحَامِ سورة لقمان آية 34 ، وَمَنْ أَخْبَرَكَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَتَمَ ، فَقَدْ كَذَبَ ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ : يَأَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ سورة المائدة آية 67 ، وَلَكِنَّهُ رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ " .
Masruq says that once he came to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked, "O Mother of the Believers! Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) see his Lord?" She replied, "Glory be to Allah! Hearing your words, my hair has stood on end. Why are you heedless of these three things? Whoever tells you these things in your presence is lying. Whoever tells you that the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw his Lord is lying." Then she recited this verse: "Eyes cannot grasp Him, but He grasps all eyes." And also this verse: "It is not for any human that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a veil." And whoever tells you news of tomorrow is lying. Then she recited this verse: "With Allah is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and He knows what is in the wombs." And whoever tells you that the Prophet (peace be upon him) concealed something, he is also lying. Then she recited this verse: "O Messenger! Convey all that has been revealed to you from your Lord." However, the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw Jibreel (Gabriel), the trustworthy, twice in his original form.
Hadith 24228
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْحُمَّى ، أَوْ شِدَّةَ الْحُمَّى مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ ، فَأَبْرِدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fever or its severity is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with water.
Hadith 24229
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْحُمَّى مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ ، فَأَبْرِدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fever or its severity is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with water.
Hadith 24230
حَدَّثَنَا يحْيَى ، عن هِشَام ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ يَوْمًا تَصُومُهُ قُرَيْشٌ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُهُ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ صَامَهُ وَأَمَرَ بِصِيَامِهِ ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ صَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ ، كَانَ رَمَضَانُ هُوَ الْفَرِيضَةَ ، وَتَرَكَ عَاشُورَاءَ ، فَكَانَ مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَهُ ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَصُمْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the days of ignorance, the Quraysh used to fast on the tenth of Muharram, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also used to fast on this day. After migrating to Madinah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued to fast on this day and instructed his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to fast as well. Then, when the fasting of the month of Ramadan was made obligatory, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to fast only in Ramadan and abandoned the fast of Ashura. Now, whoever wishes may fast, and whoever wishes may leave it.
Hadith 24231
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، وَوَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : يَحْيَى قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ هِنْدَ بِنْتَ عُتْبَةَ ، قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطِينِي وَوَلَدِي مَا يَكْفِينَا إِلَّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْ مَالِهِ وَهُوَ لَا يَعْلَمُ ؟ قَالَ : " خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Hind came to the presence of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Sufyan is a man who is a bit too frugal, and I only have what he brings home." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You may take from his wealth what is sufficient for you and your children, but do so in a good manner."
Hadith 24232
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ يَأْتِي عَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّهْرُ مَا يُوقِدُونَ فِيهِ نَارًا ، لَيْسَ إِلَّا التَّمْرُ وَالْمَاءُ إِلَّا أَنْ نُؤْتَى بِاللَّحْمِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes a whole month would pass over the family of Muhammad (peace be upon him) in which they would not even light a fire, and they had nothing except dates and water, unless some meat came from somewhere.
Hadith 24233
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْتَكِفُ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، وَيَقُولُ : " الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ " ، يَعْنِي لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf in the last ten days, and he used to say: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten days of Ramadan."
Hadith 24234
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَرْقِي يَقُولُ : " امْسَحْ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ ، بِيَدِكَ الشِّفَاءُ ، لَا يَكْشِفُ الْكَرْبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ruqyah on any of his family members, he would pass his right hand over them and recite this supplication: "O Lord of the people! Remove this pain, grant him/her healing, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing."
Hadith 24235
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ : لِي عَائِشَةُ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي ، " مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ " .
Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me, "Nephew! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) never omitted the two rak'ahs after Asr in my presence."
Hadith 24236
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَأَنَا مُعْتَرِضَةٌ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتِرَ أَيْقَظَنِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray at night, I would be lying on the bed between him and the Qiblah. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to pray Witr, he would wake me up.
Hadith 24237
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " سُحِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَيُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ قَدْ صَنَعَ شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يَصْنَعْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that magic was done on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), due to which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would think that he had done a certain thing, although he had not done it.
Hadith 24238
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَت : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُجَاوِرُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَيُصْغِي إِلَيَّ رَأْسَهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأُرَجِّلُهُ وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would observe i'tikaf and would extend his head out from the mosque, and I would comb it while I was menstruating.
Hadith 24239
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسٍ ، لَا يَجْلِسُ إِلَّا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ ، فَيُسَلِّمُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray thirteen rak'ahs at night, and he would make witr on the fifth pair, and he would say salam while sitting in that (last rak'ah).
Hadith 24240
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ذَبَحُوا شَاةً ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا بَقِيَ إِلَّا كَتِفُهَا ، قَالَ : " كُلُّهَا قَدْ بَقِيَ إِلَّا كَتِفَهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once they slaughtered a goat, then I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Now only its shoulder is left." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Consider that everything except this shoulder has been saved."
Hadith 24241
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ ، وَابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ ، قَالَ : " هُمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا جَمِيعًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the two rak'ahs before Fajr that these two rak'ahs are more beloved to me than the whole world.
Hadith 24242
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ " . وعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ . .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The same relationships become prohibited through breastfeeding as become prohibited through lineage.
Hadith 24243
Yahya narrated to us, Hisham narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from Aisha, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the like of it.
Hadith 24244
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ خَبُثَتْ نَفْسِي ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَقُلْ لَقِسَتْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should say, "My soul has become impure," but he may say, "My heart has become hard."
Hadith 24245
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا ، وَعِنْدَهَا فُلَانَةُ ، لِامْرَأَةٍ ، فَذَكَرَتْ مِنْ صَلَاتِهَا ، فَقَالَ : " مَهْ ، عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا تُطِيقُونَ ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَا يَمَلُّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا ، إِنَّ أَحَبَّ الدِّينِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَا دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهِ صَاحِبُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a woman used to come to her who was famous for enduring hardship and exertion in acts of worship. When she mentioned her to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stop, and take upon yourselves only those deeds which you are able to do. By Allah, Allah does not tire, but you will tire. The most beloved deed to Allah is that which is done consistently, even if it is little."
Hadith 24246
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، تَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When food is served and the prayer is established, then eat the food first.
Hadith 24247
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ " ، فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لِعَائِشَةَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، إِنَّمَا قَالَ : " الشَّهْرُ يَكُونُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A month consists of 29 days." People mentioned this to Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so she said: "May Allah forgive Abu Abdur Rahman, he has made a mistake. In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Sometimes a month is also of 29 days.'"
Hadith 24248
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُوسَى الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءُوا بِعُسٍّ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَحَزَرْتُهُ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَوْ تِسْعَةَ أَوْ عَشْرَةَ أَرْطَالٍ ، فَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ بِمِثْلِ هَذَا " .
Musa Jahni says that people brought a large bowl in the month of Ramadan. I estimated that it contained eight, nine, or ten ratl of water. So Mujahid informed that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated this hadith to me: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl with that amount of water.
Hadith 24249
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالت : دَفَّتْ دَافَّةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ حَضْرَةَ الْأَضْحَى ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُوا وَادَّخِرُوا لِثَلَاثٍ " ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَانَ النَّاسُ يَنْتَفِعُونَ مِنْ أَضَاحِيِّهِمْ يَجْمِلُونَ مِنْهَا الْوَدَكَ ، وَيَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهَا الْأَسْقِيَةَ ، قَالَ : " وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : الَّذِي نَهَيْتَ عَنْهُ مِنْ إِمْسَاكِ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا نَهَيْتُ عَنْهُ لِلدَّافَّةِ الَّتِي دَفَّتْ ، فَكُلُوا ، وَتَصَدَّقُوا ، وَادَّخِرُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once, near Eid al-Adha, a disease called Ghuniya spread among the villagers, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat the meat of the sacrifice and store it only for three days." After this incident, some people said, "O Messenger of Allah! People used to benefit from their sacrificial animals and would melt their fat and make water skins from it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "So what happened now?" The people said, "You forbade keeping the meat of the sacrifice for more than three days." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I only forbade it because of the disease that was spreading. Now you may eat it, give it in charity, or store it."
