Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila says that once I went out towards a village with Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked for water, so a farmer brought water in a silver vessel. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) struck the vessel on his face. We signaled to each other to remain silent, because if we asked him, he would never have told us about it. So we remained silent. After a while, he himself said, "Do you know why I struck this vessel on his face?" We replied, "No." He said, "I had forbidden him before as well (but he did not refrain)." Then he told us that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do not drink anything in gold or silver vessels, and do not wear silk or brocade, because these things are for the disbelievers in this world and for you in the Hereafter."

Then he bowed for as long as he had stood, then after raising his head, he stood for as long as he had bowed, and after saying "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" he said: "All praise is for Allah, Who is the Possessor of power and sovereignty, the Possessor of majesty and greatness." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I am not asking about that. I am asking about the tribulation which will spread like the waves of the sea." I said, "O Commander of the Faithful! You do not need to worry about it. Between you and it, there is a closed door." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Will the door be broken or opened?" I said, "It will be broken." Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Then it will never be closed again." We asked, "Did Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) know who the door was?" Sabi’ says that once the people sent me to buy an animal. We reached a gathering where many people were assembled around a man. My companion went towards the animals, while I went towards that man. Upon reaching there, I found out that he was Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him). I went close to him and heard him saying: People used to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about good, and I used to ask about evil, because I knew that good could not go ahead leaving me behind. One day I submitted in the presence of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hudhaifah! Learn the Book of Allah and follow its commands (he said this three times). I repeated my question. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There will be tribulation and evil. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: Hudhaifah! Learn the Book of Allah and follow its commands. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Will there be evil after this good? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There will be a truce established upon smoke, and there will be unity upon filth. I submitted: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by a truce established upon smoke? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People will not be pleased with this truce in their hearts. Then the same questions and answers occurred between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There will come a tribulation that will make one blind and deaf. Upon it, there will be people appointed who will call towards the doors of Hell. O Hudhaifah! If you die in such a state that you are biting the trunk of a tree with your teeth, that is better than following any one of them. I asked: Then what will happen? He said: Then the Dajjal will emerge. I asked: What will be with him? He said: With him will be a river or water and fire. Whoever enters his river, his reward will be lost and his punishment will be certain, and whoever enters his fire, his reward will be certain and his sins will be forgiven. I asked: Then what will happen? He said: If your horse gives birth, you will not get the chance to ride its offspring before the Hour is established. Khalid bin Khalid Yashkari says that when Tustar was conquered, I left from there and reached Kufa. I entered the mosque and there was a gathering; it seemed as if their heads had been cut off, they were listening to a man's hadith with great attention. I went and stood near them. Meanwhile, another man came and stood by my side. I asked him, "Who is this person?" He asked me, "Are you from Basra?" I said, "Yes!" He said, "I already understood that if you were from Kufa, you would not have asked about this person. This is Hazrat Hudhaifa bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him)." I went near him and heard him saying: "People used to ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about good, and I used to ask about evil, because I knew that good could not go ahead leaving me behind. It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day he said, "O people! Why do you not ask me questions? People used to ask the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about good, and I used to ask about evil. Indeed, Allah Almighty sent His Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he invited people from disbelief to faith, called them from misguidance to guidance. Whoever was to accept his words, accepted this invitation, and by the blessing of truth, dead things became alive, and by the misfortune of falsehood, even living things became dead. Then the era of Prophethood ended, and the Caliphate upon the way of Prophethood was established."

Tha’labah bin Zahdam says that once we were in Tabaristan with Sa’id bin ‘As (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked the people, “Who among you has performed the Salat al-Khawf (prayer of fear) with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?” Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “I have.” Then he ordered the people, so they put on their weapons. Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) then said, “If the enemy suddenly attacks you, it is permissible for you to fight.” Then he led one group in one rak’ah (unit of prayer). One row stood facing the enemy. Then these people (who prayed) retreated backwards to the place of those who were standing in front of the enemy, and those people came and stood behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the second rak’ah. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) concluded the prayer with salam.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that once my mother asked me, "Since when have you been associated with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I told her an estimate of the time. She began to scold and reproach me harshly. I said to her, "Step aside, I am going to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); I will perform the Maghrib prayer with him and will not leave him until he seeks forgiveness for both you and me."
It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I know more about what will happen with the Dajjal than even he does. He will have with him two flowing rivers, one of which will appear to have white water and the other will appear to be blazing. If any of you encounters that time, he should enter the river which appears to him as fire, immerse himself in it, then lower his head and drink its water, for it will be cool water. And the Dajjal’s left eye will be wiped out, over it will be a thick piece of skin, and between his two eyes will be written "Kafir" (disbeliever), which every Muslim, whether literate or illiterate, will be able to read.
