It is narrated from Hazrat Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives a gift to someone, such as silver or gold, or gives someone milk to drink, or gives someone a water-skin, it is as if he has freed a slave.

A man asked Hazrat Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him), “Does this mean that by ‘the middle prayer’ is meant the Asr prayer?” He replied, “I have told you how it was revealed and how it was abrogated; now Allah knows best.”

My desire is for You, and I fear You. There is no refuge or sanctuary except with You. I have believed in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent. If the one who says these words dies that night, he will die upon the natural faith (fitrah). If he reaches the morning, he will reach it with abundant good.

They would not bring any weapons into Makkah except swords in their sheaths. They would not take anyone out of Makkah, except if someone wished to go with them of his own accord, and they would not prevent any of their companions from staying in Makkah.

So send down tranquility upon us, and make us steadfast when we meet the enemy. These people have rebelled against us, and when they intend to cause mischief, we refuse (to comply). Upon this last sentence, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his voice.

Whoever does so has reached our way, and whoever performs the sacrifice before the Eid prayer, it is merely meat that he has given to his family beforehand; it has nothing to do with the sacrifice. My uncle, Hazrat Abu Burdah bin Niyar (may Allah be pleased with him), had already slaughtered his animal before the Eid prayer. He said, “O Messenger of Allah! I have already slaughtered my animal, but now I have a six-month-old lamb which is better than a year-old animal.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Slaughter this in its place, but no one else besides you is permitted to do so.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were ordered (on the occasion of the Battle of Ahzab) to dig a trench. While digging the trench, we reached a place where there was such a rock that the pickaxe would not affect it at all. The noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) complained about it to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself came, climbed onto the rock, took the pickaxe in his hand, and, saying “Bismillah,” struck it once, breaking one third of it. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised the slogan of “Allahu Akbar” and said, “The keys of Syria have been given to me. By Allah! I can see its red palaces from this very place.” Then, saying “Bismillah,” he struck it again, breaking another third, and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said “Allahu Akbar” and said, “The keys of Persia have been given to me. By Allah! I can see the city of Madain and its white palaces from this very place.” Then, saying “Bismillah,” he struck it again, and the remaining part also broke off, and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said “Allahu Akbar” and said, “The keys of Yemen have been given to me. By Allah! I can see the gates of Sana’a from this very place.” The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

Then it was asked: Should we perform ablution after eating goat meat? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No.

And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go from one end of the row to the other, straightening the chests and shoulders of the worshippers, and would say: Do not move forward or backward, otherwise differences will arise in your hearts. And he would say: Upon those in the first rows, Allah sends mercy and the angels pray for mercy. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beautify the Qur’an with your voices.
