Musnad Ahmad 7267 — Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with)
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رِوَايَةً : " أَسْرِعُوا بِجَنَائِزِكُمْ ، فَإِنْ كَانَ صَالِحًا قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ إِلَيْهِ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ سِوَى ذَلِكَ ، فَشَرٌّ تَضَعُونَهُ عَنْ رِقَابِكُمْ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى : وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى : يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَسْرِعُوا بِالْجِنَازَةِ ، فَإِنْ تَكُ صَالِحَةً ، خَيْرٌ تُقَدِّمُوهَا إِلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) both as a statement of his own and as a saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that you should hasten with the funeral procession, for if the deceased was righteous, you are taking him towards goodness, and if the deceased was sinful, then it is an evil which you are removing from your shoulders.
