Musnad Ahmad 709 — Musnad of Ali ibn Abi Talib

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I never heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combine his parents for anyone except Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him). On the day of the Battle of Uhud, he was saying to Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him): “Sa’d, shoot (arrows), may my parents be sacrificed for you.”
