(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَأْكُلَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِشِمَالِهِ ، وَلَا يَشْرَبَنَّ بِهَا ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِهَا وَيَشْرَبُ بِهَا " ، قَالَ : وَزَادَ نَافِعٌ : وَلَا يَأْخُذَنَّ بِهَا ، وَلَا يُعْطِيَنَّ بِهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: None of you should eat or drink with his left hand, because Satan eats and drinks with his left hand. Nafi’ adds to this that one should not hold anything with the left hand nor give anything to anyone with it.
