(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو عَلَى رِجَالٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ يُسَمِّيهِمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ ، حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 128 ، فَتَرَكَ ذَلِكَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate against some individuals among the polytheists by name. Then this verse was revealed: "You have no authority in this matter, whether Allah turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers." Thereupon, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stopped supplicating against them.
