(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ لِلنِّسَاءِ أَنْ يُرْخِينَ شِبْرًا ، فَقُلْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِذَنْ تَنْكَشِفَ أَقْدَامُنَا ؟ فَقَالَ : " ذِرَاعًا ، وَلَا تَزِدْنَ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted women to raise their garment by one handspan. They said, "In that case, our feet will become visible?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not add more than one handspan (this much is excused)."
