Musnad Ahmad 4194 — Musnad of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الطِّيَرَةُ شِرْكٌ ، الطِّيَرَةُ شِرْكٌ ، وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُذْهِبُهُ بِالتَّوَكُّلِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Taking bad omens is shirk, taking bad omens is shirk, but Allah will remove it through reliance (tawakkul) upon Him."
