(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بُكِيَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ " .
It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) that when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, the people began to weep. Upon this, Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his people of the neighborhood over him."
