مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَا

Musnad Ahmad 2893 — Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ فِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was commanded regarding the miswak with such emphasis that I began to fear that perhaps a verse of the Qur'an would be revealed to me about it (and my ummah would not be able to fulfill this command)."
