مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَا

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُصْمٍ ، قال : سمعتُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " أُمِرَ نَبِيُّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِخَمْسِينَ صَلَاةً فَسَأَلَ رَبَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَجَعَلَهَا خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that fifty prayers were initially made obligatory upon your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then he supplicated to the Lord, so He reduced them to five.
