Musnad Ahmad 22832 — Hadith of Abu Malik Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ , أَنَّ امْرَأَةً جَاءَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ، قَالَ : " فَهَلْ تَقْرَأُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : مَاذَا ؟ قَالَ : سُورَةَ كَذَا ، وَسُورَةَ كَذَا ، وَسُورَةَ كَذَا قَالَ : فَقَدْ أَمْلَكْتُكَهَا بِمَا مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ " , قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَمْضِي وَهِيَ تَتْبَعُهُ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the people when a woman came to the court of the Prophet... Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith and said: The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her, “Do you know anything from the Qur’an?” She replied, “Yes! Such and such surahs.” The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “I have married you to her because of the portions of the Qur’an that you know.”
