Musnad Ahmad 19723 — Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَن سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَن قَتَادَةَ ، عَن أَبِي غَلَّابٍ ، عَن حِطَّانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيِّ ، عَن أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : عَلَّمَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلْيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَحَدُكُمْ ، وَإِذَا قَرَأَ الْإِمَامُ ، فَأَنْصِتُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us that when you stand for prayer, one of you should become the imam, and when the imam recites (Qur'an), you should remain silent.
