Musnad Ahmad 19687 — Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَن إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَن أَخِيهِ ، عَن أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَن أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلَا يُعَرِّضَانِ بِالْعَمَلِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَخْوَنَكُمْ عِنْدِي مَنْ يَطْلُبُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men from my tribe came with me. During the conversation, both of them requested an office. Upon this, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The greatest traitor in my sight among you is the one who seeks an office."
