Musnad Ahmad 19630 — Hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَن الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَن شَقِيقٍ ، عَن أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ أَيَّامًا ، يَنْزِلُ فِيهَا الْجَهْلُ ، وَيُرْفَعُ فِيهَا الْعِلْمُ ، وَيَكْثُرُ فِيهَا الْهَرْجُ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَمَا الْهَرْجُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْقَتْلُ " .
Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was sitting with Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), discussing hadith. Hazrat Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Before the Day of Judgment, there will come a time when knowledge will be taken away and ignorance will descend, and 'harj' will become widespread, which means killing."
