Musnad Ahmad 18409 — Hadith of al-Nu‘man ibn Bashir from the Prophet
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ وَالْجُمُعَةِ ب سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى و هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ ، وَرُبَّمَا اجْتَمَعَا فِي يَوْمٍ وَاحِدٍ ، فَقَرَأَ بِهِمَا " . وَقَدْ قَالَ أَبُو عَوَانَةَ : وَرُبَّمَا اجْتَمَعَ عِيدَانِ فِي يَوْمٍ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Surah Al-A'la and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the Eid prayers, and if Eid fell on a Friday, he would recite these two Surahs in both prayers (Eid and Jumu'ah).
