Musnad Ahmad 18263 — Hadith of Adi ibn Hatim al-Tai
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، فَذَكَرَهُ بِإِسْنَادِهِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُرَيَّ بْنَ قَطَرِيٍّ الطَّائِيَّ ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّ أَبَاكَ أَرَادَ أَمْرًا فَأَدْرَكَهُ " قَالَ سِمَاكٌ : يَعْنِي الذِّكْرَ.
Husayn narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, and he mentioned it with his chain, except that he said: I heard Murayy ibn Qatariyy al-Ta'i, and he said: "Indeed, your father intended a matter, and he attained it." Simak said: He means the remembrance.
