Musnad Ahmad 18237 — Hadith of al-Mughira ibn Shu'bah
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّائِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْوَالِبِيِّ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مِنْ نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْكُوفَةِ قَرَظَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، فَقَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The person over whom lamentation is performed is punished because of that lamentation.
