(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَكَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ أَفَاضَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ ، قَالَ : " فَرَأَى النَّاسَ يُوضِعُونَ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيَهُ ، فَنَادَى لَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِإِيضَاعِ الْخَيْلِ وَالْإِبِلِ ، فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسَّكِينَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) — who was riding behind the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the return from Arafah — says that people were making their mounts run fast, so at the command of the Prophet (peace be upon him), a caller announced: "There is no virtue in making horses and camels run fast, so adopt calmness and tranquility."
