Musnad Ahmad 17418 — Hadith of Uqbah ibn Amir Al-Juhani
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، ثَنَا حَيْوَةُ ، وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، قَالَا : سَمِعْنَا يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عِمْرَانَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : تَعَلَّقْتُ بِقَدَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَقْرِئْنِي سُورَةَ هُودٍ وَسُورَةَ يُوسُفَ ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا عُقْبَةُ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، إِنَّكَ لَمْ تَقْرَأْ سُورَةً أَحَبَّ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، وَلَا أَبْلَغَ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ " ، قَالَ يَزِيدُ : لَمْ يَكُنْ أَبُو عِمْرَانَ يَدَعُهَا ، وَكَانَ لَا يَزَالُ يَقْرَؤُهَا فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was walking behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the Prophet (peace be upon him) was riding, I placed my hand on his blessed feet and requested, "Teach me Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "O Uqbah, you will not recite any surah more eloquent than Surah Al-Falaq."
