Musnad Ahmad 1738 — Hadith of Aqil ibn Abi Talib
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجَ عَقِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا ، فَقُلْنَا بِالرِّفَاءِ وَالْبَنِينَ ، فَقَالَ : مَهْ , لَا تَقُولُوا ذَلِكَ , فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَهَانَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، وَقَالَ قُولُوا : " بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَهَا فِيكَ وَبَارَكَ لَكَ فِيهَا " .
Abdullah bin Muhammad says that when Sayyiduna Aqeel (may Allah be pleased with him) got married and he came to us, we congratulated him saying: May Allah create harmony between you and grant you sons. He replied: Wait, do not say this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from this and instructed us to say: «بَارَكَ اللّٰهُ لَهَا فِيكَ وَبَارَكَ لَكَ فِيهَا» "May Allah bless you and make you blessed for your wife."
