Musnad Ahmad 17161 — Hadith of al-Irbad ibn Sariyah from the Prophet
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ ضَمْضَمِ بْنِ زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ الْعِرْبَاضُ بْنُ سَارِيَةَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ عَلَيْنَا فِي الصُّفَّةِ وَعَلَيْنَا الْحَوْتَكِيَّةُ ، فَيَقُولُ : " لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا ذُخِرَ لَكُمْ مَا حَزِنْتُمْ عَلَى مَا زُوِيَ عَنْكُمْ ، وَلَيُفْتَحَنَّ لَكُمْ فَارِسُ وَالرُّومُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us at Safa taking small steps, and said: If you knew what has been stored up for you, that the whole world will be gathered for you, and Persia and Rome will be conquered at your hands, then you would never be sad.
