Musnad Ahmad 17156 — Hadith of al-Irbad ibn Sariyah from the Prophet
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ جُبَيْرَ بْنَ نُفَيْرٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ الْعِرْبَاضَ حَدَّثَهُ ، وَكَانَ الْعِرْبَاضُ بن سارية من أصحاب الصفة قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي عَلَى الصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ ثَلَاثًا ، وَعَلَى الثَّانِي وَاحِدَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Irbadh bin Sariyah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would seek forgiveness three times for those in the first row and once for those in the second row.
