Musnad Ahmad 17101 — The remainder of the hadith of Abu Mas'ud
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ قَالَ يَزِيدُ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ ، وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا فَصَلُّوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone's death (or life); these two are signs of Allah. So when you see them eclipsed, then perform prayer."
