(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي قَدْ مَدَحْتُ اللَّهَ بِمَدْحَةٍ وَمَدَحْتُكَ بِأُخْرَى ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَاتِ ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَدْحَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aswad that once I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and submitted: O Messenger of Allah! I have composed verses in praise of my Lord and in your praise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite them, what have you said in praise of your Lord?
