Musnad Ahmad 16287 — Hadith of Taliq ibn ‘Ali
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ ، فَلَمْ يَقُلْ لَهُ شَيْئًا ، فَلَمَّا أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، " طَارَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ ثَوْبَيْهِ ، فَصَلَّى فِيهِمَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Taliq that he asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about the ruling of praying in a single garment: so the Prophet (peace be upon him) removed his lower garment, wrapped it around himself, and stood up to pray.
