Musnad Ahmad 16285 — Hadith of Taliq ibn ‘Ali
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُلَازِمٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَدْرٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ ، فَأَطْلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِزَارَهُ ، فَطَارَقَ بِهِ رِدَاءَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ ، قَالَ : " كُلُّكُمْ يَجِدُ ثَوْبَيْنِ ؟ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Taliq that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling of praying in a single garment: so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his lower garment and wrapped it around himself, then stood and began to pray. After the prayer, he said: Does each one of you have two garments available?
